Job Description Summary
Position: The School of Accountancy (School) in the Harbert College
of Business at Auburn University seeks applications for a qualified
tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor.
This nine-month position is designed to support the School's degree
programs in the College. The effective date of employment will be
August 2024.
Responsibilities: Successful applicants will be expected to produce
high-quality research, evidenced by publications in leading
academic journals, to achieve teaching excellence at the
undergraduate and graduate levels, and to provide appropriate
service to the department, college, and university. The teaching
load is commensurate with research expectations. In addition,
candidates are expected to contribute to the collegial and
intellectual environment of the department by working with other
faculty members.
About the Department & Programs: The successful candidate will
demonstrate a strong research program aligned with those of the
School's research-active faculty. The School values diverse
research that meaningfully impacts practice and theory, and its
growing faculty is comprised of active, successful researchers at
all ranks who employ both archival and experimental methodologies
across subdisciplines. This research diversity is evidenced by the
School's strong positions in various BYU rankings and recent
publications in the top academic and practitioner journals. Faculty
research programs are strongly supported with summer research
funding and limited class preparations through tenure. Support is
also provided for faculty participation at regional, national and
international conferences, and access to research participants and
numerous data resources. The School houses an undergraduate major
and a Master of Accountancy program, and its online programs are
consistently highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report. The School
also provides instructional support to the highly-ranked Harbert
College of Business MBA programs. The School has exceptional
students: approximately 90% of undergraduates complete an
internship, 100% of on-campus MAcc students receive graduate
assistantships and have jobs waiting for them upon graduation, and
MAcc candidates have historically averaged an 85% pass rate across
all four sections of the CPA exam prior to graduation. The School
also has strong ties to the profession driven by a loyal alumni
base, offering networking opportunities and access to
externally-valid experimental participants. Additional information
about the School can be found here.
About the College: The Harbert College of Business has a strong
tradition of providing highly desirable graduates and generating
knowledge that drives diverse business thought and sustainable
business practice. The college and its programs consistently rank
among the nation's best public undergraduate and graduate business
programs. The Harbert College has experienced steady enrollment
growth in recent years and currently serves well over 6,500
undergraduate and graduate students through six academic
departments offering eight undergraduate majors and multiple
Masters and Ph.D. options. The college pioneered online masters and
executive education programs that are now ranked among the very
best in the nation. The college has invested in building a
nationally recognized faculty that moves thought forward through
research, engages with industry, and delivers relevant and current
instruction.
