Job Description Job Description Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Controls Engineer to support both immediate staffing needs and long-term growth in our engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, industrial environment and enjoys a balance of fieldwork and office-based engineering tasks. You’ll be part of a collaborative team responsible for designing, troubleshooting, and supporting complex automation systems used in heavy industrial applications. Responsibilities Work directly with customers to identify problems, interpret schematics, and implement solutions. Modify and troubleshoot PLC code (primarily Siemens and other platforms). Develop and modify electrical schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD. Collaborate with the electrical shop to build and test control panels and systems. Assist in the design and integration of automation systems for large industrial equipment. Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and field technicians. Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure project success. Provide technical support and documentation for ongoing and completed projects. Essential Skills Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems. Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Omron preferred) for troubleshooting and code modification. Proficiency in AutoCAD, especially for electrical schematics and point-to-point wiring diagrams. Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and identify potential issues. Comfortable working in industrial environments. Willingness to travel domestically for field service and commissioning work. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Strong interpersonal skills; able to work well with customers and team members. Self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in industries such as municipal waste, recycling, food processing, or other heavy industrial sectors. Experience working with large equipment and automation systems. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus, but not required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
