To support these broad research initiatives, the College of
Education is recruiting a Manager of Research Program Development
and Grants. This on-site position will report to the Assistant Dean
for Research and will play a crucial role in supporting faculty
proposal development and submission. The manager will lead proposal
development efforts, serving as the primary contact for all
pre-award activities within the college. This role involves
collaboration with faculty, administrators, and support staff both
within Auburn University and in external settings. Essential
Functions
- Works with college faculty to develop and submit competitive
grant and contract proposals to federal, state, foundation, and
industry sponsors.
- Ensures proposals are compliant with sponsor and institutional
requirements and submitted within designated deadlines. This
includes the collection and critical review of non-technical
supporting documents, such as biographical sketches, current and
pending support documents, and other materials specified in the
proposal guidelines.
- Supports faculty through budget preparation and developing
budget narratives.
- Serves as liaison to the Office of Sponsored Programs for
pre-award functions and is responsible for proposal submission to
sponsors through electronic systems.
- Develops grantsmanship resources and training activities to
position faculty for success in pursuing external research
funding.
- Identifies and promotes funding opportunities for the college,
with the goal of expanding the college's extramural funding
portfolio and research impact.
- Manages grant-related data systems and processes, including
tracking and reporting metrics for research development services.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in field appropriate to the
position.
Experience: 5 Years of experience in developing research
opportunities, grant preparation, grant accounting, with
progressively increasing levels of responsibility and
accountability.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and
Abilities
- Knowledge of sponsored research administration.
- Knowledge of grant policies and regulations.
- Knowledge of budget development for sponsored projects. Minimum
Technology Skills Minimum License and Certifications None Required.

- A Master's degree is preferred.

- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to critically assess information (e.g., program
solicitation).
- Ability to effectively execute multiple tasks, while meeting

- Comprehensive understanding of rules, regulations, and
requirements of federally funded grant and contract proposals and
awards.
- Knowledge of multiple funding sources for research programs.
