Job Description:
RN/LPN Staff Nurse - Full-time or Part-time*RN* Starting Pay -
$24.90/hr*LPN* Starting Pay - $17.25/hr*Qualifications** Graduation
from an approved school of nursing.* Current licensure in the state
of Alabama*Requirements** Knowledge & understanding of principles
of nursing care.* Emotional maturity, stability, adaptability,
moral integrity, kindness, understanding, sympathy, gentleness, and
courtesy.* Ability to work with others, to give guidance and
direction, and to accept guidance and direction.* An active
interest in people as individuals and respect for each other
employee's contribution to the care of the resident.* Loyalty to
the nursing home in work and action at all times.* A feeling of
pride in the accomplishments of the nursing home and a desire to
provide maximum quality resident care.* Proper uniform and color
while on duty. No non approval scrubs.*Basic Responsibilities** The
staff nurse promotes the use of established nursing care
procedures, policies, and routines.* Knows and observes the lines
of authority.* Cooperates in enforcing nursing home policies.*
Displays an active interest in self-improvement in the practice of
nursing.* Has ability and willingness to adapt to change.* Each
nurse is considered a charge nurse for their shift which
incorporates taking charge of staff issues and resident issues.*
The nurse is responsible for staff disciplinary actions while on
duty.*Duties** Assure resident safety.* Administer and chart
medications* Supervises all resident carMakes rounds on residents
at the beginning of the shift and at least every 2 hours
thereafter.* Makes rounds with doctors and implements their
orders.* Assists physicians with treatments and examinations.*
Receiving all residents to the unit, assembly of residents chart,
and assuring that all required admission procedures are complete.*
Prepares requisitions for lab, radiology, ECG, therapy and
pharmacy.* Maintains accurate narcotics record and checks narcotics
with the on-coming nurse when he/she is in charge of medications.*
Keeps care plans up to date-notify MDS nurses of changes needed.*
Relieves supervisors when requested.* Ability to work different
assignments within the nursing home.* Supervises and assigns duties
of nursing assistants.* Reports any maintenance or repairs needed
to the maintenance department.* Attends regular and called
meetings.* Gives report to the on-coming shift of pertinent
information.* Writes a weekly summary in the nurse's notes of each
resident when required.* Checks supplies daily or assists ward
clerk, makes list of needed items and orders if ward clerk not
available.* Places charge stickers on the book for ward clerk to
enter charges for residents.* Fills out Incident Reports in a
timely manner and turns them in to Administration.* Performs daily
check of resident's medication sheets and doctors order sheets for
errors.* Resident teaching/education when necessary.* Assists the
Director of Nursing in identifying resident care needs.* Performs
such other duties as may be necessary to insure quality resident
care.* Be willing to stay over and work extra when needed due to
weather conditions, emergencies and staff shortage.Job Types:
