The CRNP shall perform clinical (diagnostic/therapeutic) functions
and procedures as appropriate to the scope of preparation and
specialty certification for which competency has been validated and
maintained and as reflected in the CRNP protocol approved by
Alabama Board of Nursing. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required:
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Alabama is required for approval
and for subsequent renewal of approval. Masters prepared or higher
degree in nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner
educational program. Certification as a nurse practitioner in the
appropriate area of practice from a national certifying body
recognized by the Alabama Board of Nursing . LICENSE, CERTIFICATION
AND/OR REGISTRATION: Required: Current Alabama CRNP license.
Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within the
first 30 days of employment TRAITS & SKILLS: Must be self-directed
/ self-motivated; must have good communication and interpersonal
skills. Must be able to: (1) perform a variety of duties often
changing from one task to another of a different nature without
loss of efficiency or composure; (2) accept responsibility for the
direction, control and planning of an ones own work; (3) work
independently; (4) recognize the rights and responsibilities of
patient confidentiality; (5) convey empathy and compassion to those
experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief; (6)

cooperation; (7) communicate effectively with people from every
socioeconomic, cultural and educational background; (8) exhibit

healthcare environment; (9) perform effectively when confronted

right way; and (11) maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy
the customer's perceived needs.
