Medicine Physicians (MD/DO) for a multi-site locum tenens
opportunity across the Birmingham, Alabama market , including
Birmingham, Talladega, Alabaster, and Jasper. This is a rare
start-up engagement —giving physicians the opportunity to step into
a brand-new program at launch , secure consistent shifts across
multiple facilities, and establish early positioning within a

Snapshot Location: Greater Birmingham, Alabama (Multi-Site
Coverage) Contract Type: Emergency Medicine Locum Tenens Start
Date: June 2, 2026 (Program Go-Live) Assignment Length: Long-Term
(6 months) Schedule: High-volume shift availability across all
sites Shift Structure: 12-hour shifts (Days & Nights) EMR: Epic
(system-wide) Cross-credentialing across all facilities required
System Overview — Multi-Facility Coverage This program spans six
emergency departments and freestanding EDs , allowing physicians to
build schedules across a diverse mix of clinical environments :
Regional hospitals (25–33K annual volume) Community hospitals with
steady throughput Freestanding EDs with efficient patient flow
Total available coverage exceeds 200 shifts/month across the system
Facility Highlights Across all sites: Annual volumes range: ~15,000
– 33,000 Patients per hour: ~2.0 ED Beds: 22–26 (main hospitals)
Trauma Level: Level III (hospital sites) Freestanding EDs: Lower
acuity, streamlined workflow Practice Environment MD APP
collaborative care model APP support ranges from 11 to 32 hours/day
depending on site No admitting orders required No scribe dependency
This is a high-functioning, operationally efficient system designed
for throughput and consistency. Scheduling Structure Primary shifts
across sites include: 7a–7p / 7p–7a Some sites offer 6a–6p / 6p–6a
Physicians must be available for both day and night coverage
Candidate Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible: ABEM /
AOBEM ABFM / ABIM (with ED experience) Active Alabama license or
IMLC required at submission Certifications required: ACLS, ATLS,
