Job Description Job Description ABOUT CITYWALK BHAM: The recent
completion of Birmingham’s I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD)
Interstate bridges brings about a renewed focus on the space
underneath the bridges known as City Walk BHAM. The goal of City
Walk BHAM is to provide a space to assist in reconnecting
Birmingham and create a destination and common area open to all
citizens. City Walk BHAM spans 10 city blocks, from 15th St N to
25th St N – almost a mile in length. The entire area encompasses 31
acres, which will provide a space to assist in connecting
Birmingham. Summary/Objective The Skatepark Ambassador is
responsible for maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized
skatepark environment for all users. This role supports daily park
operations by monitoring activity, enforcing park rules, assisting
guests, and ensuring the facility remains clean and safe. Skatepark
Ambassadors serve as ambassadors for the skatepark, promoting
respect, safety, and positive community culture. This is a
part-time outdoor position. Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding and full performance ability in each of
the following: Monitor skatepark activity to ensure safe and
appropriate use of park features and equipment. Support opening and
closing procedures, including light cleaning and equipment checks.
Enforce skatepark rules and policies in a fair, consistent, and
respectful manner. Provide excellent customer service to skaters,
families, and visitors. Respond to minor injuries and incidents;
provide basic first aid as needed. De-escalate conflicts and
address unsafe behavior calmly and professionally. Perform light
cleaning and maintenance, including sweeping, trash removal, and
reporting damage. Collaborate with public safety, PSA, operations,
and emergency personnel as required. Open and close the skatepark
according to scheduled hours. Assist with programs, lessons, camps,
or special events when scheduled. Communicate incidents, injuries,
or facility concerns to supervisors promptly. Represent the
skatepark positively and help foster an inclusive,
community-focused environment. Performs other duties as required.

Development. Work Environment This position may have a moderate to
extensive stress level associated with dealing with crowds of
public visitors. Must be able to work under pressure for extended
periods of time. The environment is outdoors, exposed to the
elements (heat, rain, etc.). Physical Demands Position requires
lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, and
kneeling for extended periods of time. Extensive walking and/or
standing. Ability to lift up to 50lbs items with or without
assistance, while maintaining good balance. Must be flexible enough
to reach above shoulder level and be able to push and pull for
brief periods of time. Visual acuity, speech recognition, and
speech clarity. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a
full-time and/or part-time position; hours of work must be flexible
and varied to meet the demands of the events of the facility. Must
be able to work extended and/or irregular hours including day,
nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. Required Education and
Experience Minimum of one (1) year related knowledge, experience,
and skills in customer service, recreation, youth programs, or
similar public-facing roles is preferred. Experience skateboarding,
BMX riding, scootering, or inline skating. High School Diploma or
G.E.D, preferred. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to
obtain). Valid State of Alabama Driver License. Additional
Eligibility Qualifications Knowledge of skatepark etiquette,
culture and safety standards (or willingness to learn). Ability to
remain calm, alert, and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, work independently, observe, make
decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. Strong
situational awareness and sound judgment. Team-orientated and
pro-active. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, time
management, and deductive reasoning skills. Anticipates problems
and implements corrective actions. Strong communication, conflict
resolution, and interpersonal skills. Comfortable interacting with
people of all ages and backgrounds, including youths, teens and
adults. Ability to understand oral and written instructions in
English. Dependable, responsible and safety focused mindset.
