Job Title: Technology Architect (Business Systems Enterprise Architect) Department/Organization: Information Systems Support Salary Grade:37 Salary Range: $68,700 - $114,500Status: Full-time

Job Summary:

The department of Information Systems Support (ISS) is seeking to fill the position of Technology Architect (Business Systems Enterprise Architect) with a focus on Auburn University's Ellucian Banner ERP Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources/Position Control modules, as well as associated 3rd party solutions and interfaces. Under general supervision, serves as an architect for the delivery of systems and services under the umbrella of the Vice-President of Business & Finance (VP B&F), CFO. This position reports to the Director of ISS and will provide expert advice and a unique group-wide technical perspective. Researches, designs, and presents designs to ISS specialists and management for review and acceptance. Works closely with delivery teams, ISS and Office of Information Technology (OIT) personnel to ensure current and future technology services are designed and delivered according to University standards and industry best practices. Represents ISS in all data governance matters, focusing on data security, data integrity, secure protocols, etc.

Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

1) Possess a firm understanding of applications architecture on the basis of business and functional requirements, defining the integration between application packages, databases, and middleware systems in terms of functional coverage.2) Work with stakeholders, VP B&F leadership, OIT project managers, delivery teams, and vendor partners to ensure the design and delivery of systems and services adhere to University technology architecture principles.3) Identify any integration problems or gaps in functional coverage, reliability, and supportability of applications.4) Document and maintain an inventory of applications and their integration points.5) Consult on vendor presentations and new application requests, and provide input related to support load and appropriate support structure.6) Maintain an awareness and coordination of application and infrastructure support timelines and the upgrades necessary to maintain supported status with our vendors.7) Participate in technology architecture governance and serve as an expert for the current and future design of technology application delivery. Provide input and support to include technical assessments and technical requirements analysis as well as future needs to drive the design and integration of various components of architecture.8) Fosters cross-organizational thought leadership, user experience excellence, vendor-partner accountability, and operational cohesion.9) Supports a culture of service, process orientation, best practice, and cost-effective management.

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry into the applicant pool requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and eight (8) or more years of experience specific to the technical and application skills listed below, including at least two (2) years managing project work.

Technical Skills Required:

1) Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred), including database specific programming languages (ex., PL/SQL)2) Familiarity with object oriented development and methodologies3) Experience with CSS, HTML and other web development technologies4) Experience and/or strong familiarity with PHP, Powershell, Windows Administration, Apache, SFTP protocol, and Oracle Applications Express (APEX).

Application Management Requirements:

1) Ability to multitask and collaborate with multiple shareholders (technical and non-technical). Shareholders may have competing priorities and timelines. Can include functional users, quality assurance, business analysts, project managers, development teams and database administrators.2) Collaborate with end users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development.3) Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build and maintain relationships with project teams, vendors, constituents campus-wide, etc.4) Excellent communication skills including the ability to articulate technical concepts effectively to non-technical users.5) Understanding of higher education process flows, business requirements and operations.

Desired Qualifications:

1) Knowledge of Ellucian Banner ERP, jQuery, AngularJS, REST, JSON.2) Advanced degree in either technical, business or education related fields.3) Knowledge of financial and HR business processes in complex public universities.
