Posting Details Position Information Job Title Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Posting Number P1733F Position Summary Information Job Description Summary The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine ( AUCVM ) seeks a student-focused, creative, collaborative leader for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The selected candidate will be expected to lead the college's veterinary medical education program and to serve as an advisor to the Dean on all matters related to the DVM degree program. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will oversee the college's activities in admissions and standards, curriculum development, awards and scholarships, and student affairs, including assistance with professional, academic and health counseling. Activities will also include the enthusiastic recruitment of new students to the veterinary program and guidance of the evolution of our curriculum. The position requires excellent communication skills, as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs serves as a collaborative leader in all aspects of student life, including recognition for accomplishments, and promotion of academic and professional standards. Additional duties are institutional analysis, outcomes assessment, strategic planning and implementation, budget development, and other responsibilities as assigned. The successful candidate will also foster and grow relationships with external organizations such as the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, Southern Regional Education Board ( SREB ; see below) and industry organizations who are supportive of AUCVM's mission and personnel. A history of participation in the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges ( AAVMC ) would also be helpful.The AUCVM is a vibrant, interactive community of students, faculty and staff. The successful candidate for Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will join in our mission to promote an educational environment for continuing excellence. The position requires an earned doctorate, either the DVM (or equivalent) or a PhD. Applicants with a DVM or equivalent degree are desired. Candidates must have the qualifications and experience sufficient to merit an academic appointment in one of the college's three departments. At least three years of experience in a supervisory role that includes mentoring is required.The AUCVM has educated veterinarians and advanced veterinary medicine for over a century, and continues to grow and prosper as a leader in veterinary medical education. Currently, 490 students are enrolled in the DVM degree program. As a public land-grant institution for the state of Alabama, 41 resident students are admitted each year. Additionally, 38 students from Kentucky are admitted through a longstanding contract with the SREB . Fifty-one (51) students are admitted from an at-large pool of non-resident applicants. The College maintains modern, well equipped classroom facilities and operates a state-of-the-art veterinary teaching hospital. Over 133 faculty and 257 staff members support the broad mission of the College.Auburn University is one of the nation's premier public land-grant institutions.
