Responsible for the overall management of Covenant Hospice
Operations in specified service area. Provides overall supervision
of care delivery staff as well as providing direction, support and
assistance for all staff members who interact with service area.
The Hospice Administrator is responsible for all branch activities,
overall patient/family satisfaction of care delivery, publically
reported quality scores, financial performance, and overall growth.
The Hospice Administrator leads in market planning and
implementation of specific strategies to reach specified goals and
works in unison with any department that interacts with specific
market. Establishes and promotes innovative care by soliciting,
coordinating and implementing innovative suggestions from
employees, managers and physicians ensuring that Hospice personnel
stay current with clinical information and practices including
local, national issues and trends.
The Hospice Administrator maybe a graduate of an accredited
school of nursing and be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse
in the State of Florida or Alabama, depending upon assignment, or
healthcare professional with at least 5 years of experience.
Hospice experience is preferred and/or seven (7) years of
managerial experience is required with recent experience in a
medical/surgical setting, a hospital, oncology or geriatric

communication skills, displayed management and leadership skills
and an ability to interact successfully with members of the
healthcare community and other community leaders.
Reliable transportation, valid state of Florida or Alabama
driver's license, as applicable depending on assignment, and
current automobile liability insurance is required.
- Must possess current CPR certification.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Business Line Financial Performance
A. Responsible for all financial performance indicators to
include meeting or exceeding operating margin, dollars per patient
day metrics for Medical Supplies, Pharmacy, Durable Medical
Equipment, Mileage, Treatments, Transportation and labor costs.
B. Establishes and promotes innovative care by soliciting,
coordinating and implementing innovative suggestions from
employees, managers/leads, physicians, and co-director ensuring
that Hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and
practices including local, national issues and trends.
C. Oversees development and monitoring of budgets and planning
reflecting individual program and service priorities and monitoring
business operations to insure financial stability
D. Maintain relationship with Medical Staff Office and Team
Physician to ensure physician billing and rounding metrics are
E. Monitors revocations and live discharges rates to ensure
branch does not go above regulatory standards.
F. Monitors to ensure Face to Face Visits are completed timely
and any errors are quickly identified and corrected with limited
impact to patient care and finances.
G. Monitor productivity and billing for mid-level providers.
H. Responsible for timely payroll and other financial
information to the Business Office.
I. Responsible for timely submission of patient account
information (change of status, election statements, facility status
J. Implement staffing patterns taking into consideration budget
factors, patient acuity and FTE reports. Monitor productivity and
manage to expectations.
K. Monitoring operational progress toward accomplishing
operational and strategic goals.
Business Line Growth
A. Responsible for the branch growth goals including but not
limited to: achieving and/or succeeding in budgeted census goals,
length of intake average at or below 24 hours (LOI), and ensuring
length of stay remains in alignment.
B. Direct Administrative Staff in the management of office
business. Manage to branch staffing expectations and scheduling
C. Maintains 75% or higher conversion rate for referral to
admissions while focusing on same day as referral conversion
D. Manage recruitment, hiring, discipline and management of team
personnel, including work related injury reporting.
E. Conduct quarterly rounding with Covenant Care Partners in the
community including Skilled Nursing Facilities, Assisted Living
Facilities, Hospitals and Physician Offices.
F. Actively participate in all service recovery issues.
G. Maintain close, cooperative relations with other Hospice
leadership including Operations, Support Services, Finance,
Volunteers, Education, Care Navigation Center, Sales, etc.
H. Attend all meetings and work groups as assigned or requested
by AVP Hospice.
I. Develop close, interactive relationships with Sales and VMs,
to access to care, resolution of patient care problems, and quality
communication on hospice service.
Business Line Quality and Regulatory Compliance
J. Ensures appropriate delivery of Hospice services to
patient/family units and care partners through overall management
of the Patient Care Manager.
K. Works alongside Quality Team to ensure publically reported
Quality metrics remain higher than national average.
L. Work with Quality Team to ensure regulatory readiness for
Branch to include ensuring staff documentation audits meet expected
standards such as GIP, LLOS, Oxygen Safety, etc.
M. Contribute to Quarterly MOCK survey participation to ensure
branch is survey ready at all times.
N. Committee participation includes: Performance Improvement,
Safety, Infection Control, EOC, Management and TJC continuous
O. Responsible for staff development including orientation,
in-service, continuing education, competency testing and
performance improvement. Develops in-services to enhance
P. CNAs have at least 12 units of education offered by the

Policies and Procedures, awareness of Federal and State Hospice

organizations. Seek opportunities for development and enhancement
of Hospice relations with the community.
T. Promote a positive image of Hospice in the community at all
