    Essential Functions

    • The individual in this position is responsible for the clean and efficient operation of plasmapheresis equipment (including maintenance) to harvest plasma from horses to be used in the production of human abotulinum antitoxin.

      • The focus of the position is to exercise control of the establishment of the collection, processing, storage and distribution of plasma.
        • Professional training will be required and furnished as necessary for the competent performance of their assigned functions to ensure that the final product has the safety, purity, potency, identity and effectiveness to be used to manufacture a therapeutic human botulinum antitoxin.
          • Facilities provided for the collection of plasma will be maintained in a clean, orderly manner by this person so the withdrawal of blood from equine donors can be performed with minimal risk of contamination.
            • The storage and quarantine of the finished product will be handled by this person as well as the other members of the research team in the GMP section. Additional duties include post production processing, handling and shipment of plasma.







              Minimum Qualifications




              Minimum Qualifications

              Education and Experience:
              Level I - Bachelor's Degree in discipline appropriate to position and no experience.
              Level II - Bachelor's Degree in discipline appropriate to position and 2 years of experience in research practices and protocols .
              Level III - Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years of experience in research practices and protocols, including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.
              Level IV - Bachelor's Degree plus 6 years of experience in research practices and protocols , including at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

              Substitutions allowed for Experience:
              When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.







              Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications




              Minimum Skills and Abilities
              Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

              The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
